THE JOURNEY

One day you finally knew what you had to do, and began, though the voices around you kept shouting their bad advice– though the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at your ankles. “Mend my life!” each voice cried. But you didn’t stop. You knew what you had to do, though the wind pried with its stiff fingers at the very foundations, though their melancholy was terrible. It was already late enough, and a wild night, and the road full of fallen branches and stones. But little by little, as you left their voices behind, the stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds, and there was a new voice which you slowly recognized as your own, that kept you company as you strode deeper and deeper into the world, determined to do the only thing you could do– determined to save the only life you could save. – Mary Oliver

Nature is the Teacher

You may come with a question that you are sitting with, or something that you would like guidance on. We will have some time together and talk about whether or not you want to do a specific ceremony during or after your medicine walk. You may want to bury something, or declare something or find something on your walk. We also have a ceremonial fire pit in our back yard where you can safely burn something you would like to symbolically let go of.

I will send you out on your alone time with prayers, smudging and drumming, and you will either come back when you feel complete or we will have agreed for me to drum you back in at a certain time. I will receive you back ceremonially, and you will have the opportunity to share the experience and story of your walk. I will reflect back any themes I hear related to your question and intention. If appropriate, we may talk about “home work” or any goals you might want to embrace as a result of your experience.

The land that we live on is very sweet. We are in Bailey, an hour up in the mountains from Denver. We consistently see chipmunks, rabbits, deer and a multitude of birds with the occasional fox. We can also do a medicine walk in any natural place that you might choose.

Please contact Jeannie with questions or to schedule a medicine walk session.
